Coach Joe Frostick was the original founder of Improve Your Game LLC. Coach Joe was a former University of Richmond baseball coach with over 20 years experience working with players of all ages. His passion for the game is evident in both his coaching and his belief in positive development for the overall player. Joe was an amazing person inside and out and truly loved working with the kids. He ran this program with love in his heart and an open door policy. We will miss Joe forever.
Mark graduated from JR Tucker High School in ‘78. He was a 3 year varsity player, State Champ in ‘78, 1st team All-Metro in ‘77 and ‘78 and 1st team All-State in ‘78. He attended the University of Virginia from ‘79-’81 where he was 1st team All-ACC in ‘80 and ‘81. Mark was drafted by the Red Sox in ‘81 and played until ‘87. He became a hitting coach in the organization from ‘87-’92. He then became manager of their A ball team in Lynchburg in ‘93 and ‘94. He then had some experience in the Tigers organization from ‘95-’00 where he managed A ball and was a AAA hitting coach. In ‘00 he was moved back to Richmond to be the Braves hitting coach until ‘02. He finished up his pro career managing the Toronto Blue Jays A ball affiliated in ‘03 and ‘04. Mark has been giving private hitting lessons for 15+ years and is considered by many as one of the best hitting instructors in Richmond.
Coach Sizemore played High School baseball at Hickory High School in Chesapeake, VA. He was the 2002 District and Regional Player of the Year and a First Team All-State selection. In 2003 he was First Team all District, First Team All-Region and Second team All-State. He played college ball at Virginia Commonwealth University and was an All Conference freshmen, First team All Conference player, Player of the Year and an All-American team pick. In 2006 Coach Sizemore got drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 5th round. He played in the pros from 2006-2016. He was the Tigers Minor League player of the year in 2006. At the MLB level he played with the Tigers, A’s and Yankees.
Coach Tyler LeClair is the owner of IYG Baseball. He comes to us from northern New York. He played his high school baseball for the Ogdensburg Blue Devils. He played at the State University of New York College at Brockport as a catcher. In 2009 he started and was the head coach of a Junior Varsity baseball program at a high school that did not have baseball as a spring sport. That program now has J.V. and Varsity level teams. He was the catching coach at Freeman High School from 2010-2015. Coach LeClair has been at IYG since the summer of 2010.

Coach Nick graduated from Lee Davis high school in 2018 where he played baseball for 4 years. He then went on to play at Bryant and Stratton in eastern Virginia. Nick played with our Spiders organization for 7 years and was the definition of hard work and dedication to the sport of baseball.
Catcher Eliezer Zambrano played in the San Francisco Giants Organization for 12 seasons, reaching AAA in his last season (2017). Known as “The Original Squirrel” Zambrano is the only Richmond Flying Squirrels player to appear in a game in the first eight seasons of the club’s existence. Zambrano was a bullpen catcher for the Flying Squirrels in 2018-2019. The Giants promoted him to development coach for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Zambrano was fundamentals coach for the San Jose Giants in 2021 and Eugene Emeralds 2022-present.
Mark attended JR Tucker High School from 1997-2001. He went to Radford University from 2001-2005 where he played baseball. Mark was drafted by the Orioles in the 14th round. He spent 3 years with the Orioles and 2 years with the White Sox. He has been Coaching baseball/softball for 16 years.
Anthony Zona joins us from The University of Charleston, where he spent the last 4 seasons as the pitching coach. During his time with the program, Charleston Baseball has made 4 consecutive NCAA tournaments, and 3 conference championships, while totaling nearly 200 program victories. Anthony is a Richmond Native who attended Hanover High School. Anthony has his Master’s in Strategic Leadership from The University of Charleston.
Coach Justin Richard is an active duty United States Marine, who has served the last 18 years in a wide array of climes and places. He comes to us from Southeast Texas, where he learned and started playing the game of baseball at age four. In 2013, Coach Richard earned a master’s degree in Exercise Science and became a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM. With a passion that continues to grow, Coach Richard has been teaching, coaching, training, and mentoring young athletes of all ages for over 10 years.
Coach Jacob is a former IYG Spider who grew up in Mechanicsville, Virginia where he graduated from Atlee high school. He then attended Randolph-Macon college where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in communication studies and special education. He pitched all four years while attending R-MC. Jacob is a teacher at Mechanicsville High School. He is looking forward to working with the student athletes in the facility.
Coach Hewett played Varsity baseball at nearby Benedictine High School before continuing his playing career at La Salle University and Radford University. He returned to the diamond for the Benedictine Cadets in 2017- this time as a coach- helping the program to a top-ten national ranking and eventual back-to-back State Championships. By the end of 2019, the local American Legion had awarded him a Certificate of Appreciation for his role in revitalizing their league and the St. Louis Cardinals had asked for his contact. In 2021, he started Cap City Baseball – a sandlot solution to the musical chairs of travel baseball. He joins IYG in 2023 as a team coach and lesson instructor excited to be a part of the organization’s resurgence.
